Orange (Citrus) cake microwave

I never thought id ever post recipes...but here I am my experiment with citrus cake turned out extremely tasty!

You need 2 eggs,  1 cup powdered sugar, 1/2 cup vegetable oil (or butter), 1 cups flour, 1 cup semolina,  3 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 cup fresh orange/ sweet lime pulp, zest from oranges, vanilla essence....

First beat the eggs well and add all the other ingredients except zest. I dint use a juicer but manually extracted the pulp such that it remains intact and tastes great when u bite into it. Gently sprinkle the zest. I added lesser sugar as the oranges and sweet limes I used were extremely ripe and sweet. Pour into a microwave bowl lined with butter/ oil and I let it cook in the microwave for 7 minutes (keep checking that it doesn't over cook or will lose the pulp taste

Once done I scooped out the center and put some orange marmalade, sprinkled icing sugar and designed the cake to look like an orange slice....
It tasted great and kids love it! Later I experimented the same with fresh pineapple juice, turned out lovely too!

Show piece (paper mache)

Made a bathing dame out of thrash lying around the house...........

Used a wire that was string to last years diary to create a model skeleton, head of the garlic pod, kitchen tools (knife, scissors etc) and made glue of flour (which was lying open since we went out and had caught bugs)  and water.....and a roll of toilet tissue!!!
I shaped the wire to create a base. I tore the tissue into small bits and let it soak in the sun for a day....Added some flour and water (also salt to avoid molds) and made in into a dough consistency.. . .I shaped a woman with the tissue dough around the wire and let it dry. In the mean while, I picked a plastic packaging material thrashed outside a grocery shop and painted it to give water effect. I further tore the remaining tissue and stuffed it in the tub to give a lather effect...

After shaping the tissue pulp I let it dry in the sun for another day. Next day I painted it with acrylic paints and coated it with varnish. Made her wine glass out of plastic bag. Stuck some accessories for the charm...

Kept in on the bathroom shelf as a show piece!!

Paper mache vase

Made a contemporary paper mache vase with a see through angel setting

The base of the vase is made from scrap card board. Which was layered with paper mache and painted. The center is made up of old toffee wrapers and the baby cupid is an old xmas decoration lying around the house. The round plastic , both sides, are lids of a take away coffee cup......Since these come with straw holes..everytime the wind blows (ot the fan) the cupid swirls around)!!!

Art box DIY

This is my attempt to combine art and craft....Everyone at work seemed absolutely tired and deserved some (cheap) thrills... so I thought I would do it for some of my colleagues to keep on their desks!

It required me to take a simple sheet of square paper...whatever width sheet you take (for example 24 inches), divide it by 4. The number you get should be the dimension of each square (in this case it would be 6 inches). Just outline these 6X6 squares with a pencil.

And in each of these squares you can make a sketch that you like (keep in mind the folds of the balloon box!....I made quick basic human sketches (for my colleagues, I pasted a pictures of Drew Barrymore and George Clooney to keep them going).

Once this is done, the paper has to folded in a paper balloon style (refer to any origami instructions) and that’s all it takes.

I made some yoga posture sketches to remind myself of it...

I also tried to use the fold flaps to draw a lady under a veil and a cat sleeping under a desk.
